Is Your Vehicle an Asset?

While it’s true that new car value drops as soon as the car is driven off the lot and are considered pure expenditures, there are several classes of vehicles that are often considered as accruing investments / assets.

Two of these emerging asset classes include: Classic and Custom / Modified

Classic Car Values

Classic cars are the category that most people recognize that increase in value over time. These are models that had a limited production quantity, a limited edition package, or rare attributes. Over time, the number of these vehicles dwindle until what was limited is now rare. As with any collector, car enthusiasts will pay big bucks to add a rare treasure to their collection.

Hotcars.com released this list of cars (classics and future classics) that will retain and increase their value over time due to their rare limited edition features. On this list, you will find anything from the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor to the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

Right now, we are at a critical point in time where the internal combustion engine might be a thing of the past, so gas-guzzling classic cars might be a great investment.

Custom Car Values

Custom / Modified cars can keep or increase their value, as well but often require a little more attention to details. While many car purists value original equipment restored to its former glory, Custom / Modified car enthusiasts geek out over a well-done body kit or a supercharger under the hood. To this group of car enthusiasts, the right custom car is worth handing over considerable cash for.

Any Jeep enthusiast will tell you that a lift kit and bigger tires will increase the value of a stock vehicle. Toyota Supra fans will pay more for a lowered car with upgraded wheels and freshened turbos.

Cars As Assets

No matter if you own a classic or a custom | modified vehicle, increasing the value of your vehicle turns it into an asset.

As with any asset, that value needs to be documented, verified, curated and protected. You can protect it by taking extremely good care of it, limiting the drive time and pampering it.

Documenting, Verifying and Curating require keeping track of all the WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW including part SKUs, timeframes, pricing, performance specs and modification and maintenance related services – ALL of this is made easy on the AUTIX platform!

AUTIX Protects Vehicle Value

The AUTIX platform allows you to add all your vehicle modifications and specs in one place where they can be saved and/or shared. No more looking for receipts or invoices. You can record the parts, manufacturer, supplier, custom shop, any issues with the install…all of it.

This record is important not only for the customer | modified vehicle owners who deliberately and sometimes radically modify their cars, but the classic car owners who often have to invest in preserving their aging rides which is the primary element of maximizing their value.

Your vehicle’s record (also known as a BuildSheet) can then be shared with a prospective buyer where they can see the real value. The AUTIX BuildSheet and vehicle profile can then be transferred to the new owner when you sell.

Our goal is to maintain the true value of vehicle assets through the AUTIX platform.

Tell us about our classic or custom ride in the comments below. How are you protecting the value of your asset?
